As a member of Spacemen 3, Pete Kember, aka Sonic Boom made space rock that took its cues from Suicide and The Velvet Underground. Spectrum was his first solo album since the demise of the seminal band and served to placate his pop sensibilities. His trademark cosmic hypnosis still remained, however. Spectrum features a cover of Suicide’s Rock n Roll is Killing My Life which Kember uses to tip his hat in the direction of the New York duo and their influence on him.
